Every year LVD organises a technological event to show technological solutions in real factories. This February the main idea of event was to show how big LVD machines work with huge products. The event was taken place not only in LVD factory in Belgium, but customers were invited to metal factories which uses LVD XXL machines as well. The LVD XXL event is not only a good opportunity to see different LVD machines in real life but a perfect trip to Belgium where you can find your favourite beer flavour.
What is XXL production?
Wind turbines, airplanes, ships, agricultural machinery – all these products are only a small part of the XXL production. To produce a big size product, companies use LVD TAURUS laser, which can cut straight and/or bevel sheets up to 42m length. To bend final workpiece factories uses PPEB-H type press brakes with capacity from 400 to 3000 tons, and with working length up to 14 meters for one machine or SYNCHRO FORM with an adaptive bending system.

Offshore wind energy
The first offshore wind farm was built in Denmark. Now this is one of most important renewable energy branches in Europe. Because of more powerful winds the offshore wind energy is more efficient than onshore wind farms as this could help to reach energy and climate targets faster. According to European commission the EU is a global leader in the manufacturing of key wind turbine components. During the XXL event there was a visit to the factory which is producing components for offshore wind farms using big capacity LVD machines.
Why the grass is greener?
Have you noticed that grass on football stadium is always green? No matter what weather or how many players was walked on stadium, the grass is always enviable. The secret of “greener grass” is the good technology. To rebuild the grass after each football match the special grass growing equipment based on aluminum construction went to the stadium. The size of the football field is approximately 105 x 68 m, so the construction of grass growing equipment isn’t small and therefore comes LVD XXL machines.
Working with Hardox steel
Hardox is a type of steel with high durability and is often used in the construction sector, military industry, mining industry, agricultural machinery and other sectors where a lifetime of steel is needed This type of steel was first developed by the Swedish steel company SSAB. Hard and tough Hardox steel -brings technological challenges to work with this type of metal. To have a good quality final product and to keep all best features of Hardox many companies decided to use a LVD TAURUS laser for cutting and precise LVD press brake for bending.
